It's confession time. I was thinking of March in terms of February as in only 4 weeks... only 4 outfits...I forgot about the 5th outfit I would need for March... This one was VERY fun to wear, but I wish I had remembered and could have made it more creative. Alas...
Drum roll please! bddddddddddddd!
The "Maaaarvelous Madam Mim" from Sword and the Stone. She is the crazy, Crazy, CRAZY villain who thinks she is better than Merlin himself. Tut tut... NOT TRUE! She is also the woman who HATES sunlight. That goes against every fiber of my being, but she is just too colorful to leave out in the cold. Now is the time I would insert the wiki link, but the article wasn't very good. To get the true effect of her craziness, buy it, check it out from the library, or borrow it from me and watch the Disney classic!
The Character: Madam Mim
The Outfit: Gray cardigan from Target 2010
Hot pink shirt from my Auntie for birthday 2011
Purple scarf that was Christmas gift 2009
Jeans from Ann Taylor 2011
Purple sparkly shoes from Target 2011
Silver belt from Stein Mart 2012- It was a gift with the gold one

Do I match the cartoon Mim?

The Lady with the Scary Laugh Challenge
I didn't get my picture taken ON tour , but my roommate Laura Kay took this photo. Surprise! New picture location. The weather is too nice to pass it up! It was her wonderful idea!
Drum roll please! bddddddddddddd!
Her evilness the Sea Witch, Ursula.
She just gives me the willies. Look at her! I'm finding a trend with the villains I have been sporting. They all wear pretty classy or very Amiee colors or prints. Does that mean something?
Check out the Wiki article here.
The Character: Ursula
The Outfit: Black dress from Target 2010.
Purple shrug from a boutique at the beach 2009
Gold belt from Stein Mart 2012...IT WAS A GIFT!
Gold sparkly shoes from Target 2011

Spontaneity
Have you ever had one of those days when you and one of your roommates have returned from Spring Break, conquered the first day back in real life, and both of you were in the green on homework? Well, my roommate Laura Kay and I had one of those typical (ha) days on Monday. What did we decide to do with our evening?
A) Stay at home and paint out nails
B) Get ahead on homework
C) Go see The Hunger Games
D) Dance around our room to Ke$ha
If you guessed D, you wouldn't be too far off, but the real answer is C. We left for the theatre at 7:17. We needed to be there at 7:30. Thankfully, Union is in a central location to almost everything in Jackson. Right now you might be saying, "Really? A Monday night?" Yes...a Monday...Weird, I know!
Over the break, LK finished the first book, The Hunger Games, and I am waiting patiently (actually, hold the patiently) for her to reach the end of the series so we can talk about it. If you ask a few of my friends from choir tour, they can attest that I DID NOT care for the ending of the series. The things is, I didn't realize my reactions were that intense. Sorry guys! As you might have read, I saw the movie at a midnight premiere last Thursday night. Laura Kay had yet to see it. We had a different plan hatched to see it, but sometimes things happen. Here is our initial plan. We were going to Midnight Movie.
I am a member of the Student Activities Council here at Union. One of our events that we host for the student body is Midnight Movie. I love it because it involves movies at the Humboldt Plaza you checked out in my last post. The way it works is as follows.
1. SAC calls on Mondays to see if we can buy out the tickets for all three of their theaters the upcoming Friday night.
2. After we get the confirmation to do so, we sell tickets to the student population for $3 until the day of and it goes to $4.
3. We convince everyone that it is a STEAL of a deal.
4. We sell LOTS of tickets.
5. Students make two sacrifices for Midnight Movie: being awake and being at the theatre at midnight.
If we're truly honest with ourselves, many of us are awake at that time anyway. My question is, who doesn't want to go to a movie with 300 of your best friends from Union and only pay a small price? Crazies, that's who. Let me define "crazies." They are the students who have NOTHING going on and haven't given in to adventure in awhile. I'm just kidding. I just take my job of getting people there seriously. I'm sure you are surprised.
So... Is there a Midnight Movie on Friday night for The Hunger Games? Why yes there is. Were we planning to wait and see it then? Why yes we were. Do we regret jumping the gun (more like in the car) to see it on a Monday night? Absolutely not!
Enjoy life. Do something spontaneous today!

Confessions from Yours Truly
1. I get so excited when I blog. I normally have typos because of my excitement. I'm very sorry to you my readers, but I just can't help my enthusiasm long enough to proof read thoroughly.
2. I went to one of the MANY midnight premieres of The Hunger Games this past Thursday/Friday. I feel like my theatre experience was one of a kind. Click here to check out the Humboldt Plaza's website. Please click on "Events" and see how they throw a midnight premiere.
3. Yesterday, I pulled out an index card and wrote this exclamatory statement:
4. I love singing hymns because they are full of doctrine and theology. You should pick some of your favorite hymns and read through ALL of the stanzas. Your mind might possibly be blown!
5. I have awesome friends. I am challenged daily by their devotion to my Jesus. Man, they are just the coolest cats in town.
6. I know a very random fact about Jackson. There are four Dairy Queens here. If you were worried about my ability to get a blizzard, you don't have to worry any longer!
7. I try to wear my glitter/sequined shoes once a week. When I'm bent over in laughter or my head hangs because of a bad day, what do my shoes do? They remind me once again of how great life is. We have been blessed with glitter.

A smile and a tear
Well everyone, choir tour 2012 is over. There are some very mixed emotions being experienced by yours truly. These emotions sound like this:
"I LOVED IT/I'M SO TIRED/ST. LOUIS AND CHICAGO ARE THE BOMB.COM/I'M SUPER PUMPED ABOUT BEING HOME/OUR HOST FAMILIES WERE SO GREAT/MY BED!!!!!"
I'm sure you get the gist of it. I promise that I'm not yelling at you, but you have just been privy to the inner workings of my brain. I hope you aren't too scared or scarred. The fact of the matter is that our choir tour was a great time of ministry and fun. Memories were made, laughs were loud, and friendships reached new levels. You can't avoid the last one if you live with 39 friends for a week.
Before I show some pictures of St. Louis and Chicago, I would like to share with you this gem of a Psalm. Let's be honest, all of the Psalms are gems because our Father gave them to us, but this one screams "My God is SO good!" Do you ever read a Psalm and think, "I have had this Scripture available to me since the Psalmists penned these words. Why have I not been reflecting on them all the time?" Maybe that's just me, but just in case there are others of you in the same boat, here are the beautiful words of Psalm 130.
"Out of the depths I cry to you,
O Lord;
O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the
morning,
more than watchmen wait for the
morning,
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins."
Did you read that? "If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared." The ONLY One who has the right to keep a record of sin doesn't! He forgives with "unfailing love and with...full redemption." Okay, who isn't encouraged by that?
Now a little virtual field trip of some St. Louis and Chicago adventures.
Climbed and crawled through all of that. |
SO MUCH FUN! |
Found this pretty church and wanted a cute pic of our matching $3 shirts from Wal-Mart. We met at our host church in Paudcah that morning unaware that the other would be wearing this shirt. |
Divas or models...I've heard it both ways! |
Now for some of the St. Louis Zoo.
These creatures are incredible. |
The ostrich was cleaning the giraffe. He did not appreciate the giraffe butting in on his work. |
He is so cute! |
I think he was saving some of his food for later... |
Wittle camel! |
Current background of my computer |
Aslan! |
Now for a little bit of Chicago.
The "no longer Sears tower" Willis Tower |
I love the City! |
Fail of a picture at the Bean, but it was fun! |
I hope you enjoyed a snapshot of Spring Break!
H&Ks,

P.S. I do have a Disneybound outfit to post, but that will come a little later.

The Meanest Feline in India Challenge
I LOVED being this character. I love cats! ESPECIALLY big ones!
I was an abstract version of this feline.
Drum roll please! bddddddddddddd!
The beautiful Mr. Nasty himself, Shere Khan.
I always hated that Sheer Khan was SO evil but SO beautiful. Rudyard Kipling. I mean, he knew what he was doing! I am forced into great conflict about loving/hating Shere Khan. Click here for the good ole Wiki article.
The Character: Shere Khan
The Outfit: Siberian tiger print shirt from my mom's closet from years past
Black cami from New York & Company 2010
Denim shorts from Gap 2011
Orange shoes from Target via Goodwill 2011
(I got them for $4 while they were still $20 at Target. Such a steal!)
The Disneybound Inspiration:
I hope I'm not the only person in great conflict over Shere Khan. Look at that bomb.com of an outfit?
Just think of how the tiger in real life is even cooler and prettier. He's not completely awful, right? :)
Oi!

The Lady with the Raven Challenge
I know you have all be waiting and holding your breath for this moment. Well, here it is!
Having my camera charger makes a world of difference.
Drum roll please! bdddddddddddddd!
The repulsive woman herself, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
Fun fact number 1: I was not allowed to watch Sleep Beauty when I was little because of Ms. Evilness. What is my mom going to do with me? I came to college and dress like a woman she didn't want me to emulate. Yikes! Click here to read her Wiki biography. Oh my! Does her pet raven remind anyone else of the many ravens that ate villains in the Bible? That never ended well...
The Character: Maleficent
The Outfit: Black Dress from Wal Mart 2008
(Wal Mart? Who knew? You CAN find some classy pieces
occasionally. I'm telling ya!)
Green Cardigan that survived Union's 2008 tornado
from New York & Company 2007
FABULOUS belt from my wonderful mom Christmas 2011
Silver shoes from Clarks 2009
The Disney Bound Inspiration:
Let me preface these boards with this statement. Maleficent's skin is green, and she wears a black cloak with pink and purple trim.
Fun fact number 2:When I opened my belt on Christmas morning, the first thing I thought was, "I can SO be Maleficent!"
I hope my version of Maleficent doesn't scare you like that Wiki article might have...

Hi!
I'm just going to say that I have not forgotten about my blog. My wonderful mom sent my camera charger home with my roommate Kyleigh this weekend. I decided to wait until my camera charged to take my picture from last week. Taking my picture with the computer wasn't working out so well...Have no fear, it will be up tomorrow!

The Little Things
Today after church I stopped in at our local Chinese/Japanese combo restaurant to take advantage of the 2 for 1 sushi deal. I was excited to try the cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber roll. Yum-o. While I was waiting for the sushi, I sat back and observed my surroundings. It is a typical nice hole-in-the-wall hidden gem of a restaurant. I don't think it is as "hidden" as it used to be, because my roommates and I always have a knack for arriving when everyone else does. I observed the bamboo plant on the counter, the crazy pictures of sushi on the tv they have, and Cute Little Girl accompanying her grandmother and mother.
In the back of the restaurant there are gum ball machines and one of those machines filled with less than Dollar Store quality prizes. (Don't get me wrong. I am a huge fan of the Dollar Store, but many a toy has broken shortly after my initial purchase.) As Cute Little Girl and her mother played while waiting for their sushi, they ended up around the machines with a couple of quarters. The first prize Cute Little Girl won was one of those birthstone rings that turn your finger green. Elated though she was, her mother had one more quarter. They talked through her options, and Cute Little Girl decided to get another less than Dollar Store quality prize. Cute Little Girl pointed to the one she wanted. Her mother replied saying that there isn't a guarantee her prize will be the exact item she wants.
They put that fateful quarter in and turned the handle. Cute Little Girl's mom opened the plastic holder and became excited over the prize even though it wasn't the one Cute Little Girl desired. I was one of those jelly substance strings with an animal attached to the end that are loads of fun to children but end gross and thrown in the trash. For the moment, the mom's face lit up with excitement and so did Cute Little Girl's. They stuck it to the table and giggled as they did so.
I just sat there and pondered how happy Cute Little Girl was with the prize she didn't want. The little thing she won became the biggest thing she appreciated at that moment. How easily I forget the little things that make life important. The little text my mom sends me in the mornings telling me she's praying for me, the little gifts my sister makes for me from a pinterest find, the little notes my roommate sticks all around my room, the little 130 piece :) toolset my dad buys for me to keep me prepared when he isn't around to fix my problems, the little promises of God that whisper peace to my soul, etc.
Here is a little note of encouragement. Next time you encounter something "little," step back and see if it is actually little or a big treasure that will keep you content.

The Spotted Challenge
The winds in Jackson, TN this week have literally blown me away. Insane. Not only have the winds cause equilibrium difficulties, the temperatures have been unnerving. We all know what hot-cold-hot means... tornadoes. When Wednesday rolled around, I WAS excited to wear my outfit because the wonky weather lent itself to high temperatures. I was able to pull off an outfit sans tights/leggings. Woo Hoo! Here is my outfit.
* The photo was taken via my computer because I accidentally left my camera charger in Huntsville following my Italy excursion. The picture is a bit grainy. Please pardon my forgetfulness!
Drum roll please! bddddddddddddddd!

Cruella De Vil!
She is the despicable puppy lover with a wardrobe featuring some of the classiest colors around. Cruella LOVES little Dalmatians and crushes little viewers hearts as she tries to make fur coats out of them. If you haven't seen the film ever or in a very long time, dust off the old VHS case, RedBox it, or find it on Netflix and enjoy Walt Disney's classic tale of 101 Dalmatians.
The Character: Cruella De Vil
The Outfit: Black cardigan from Kohl's 2009
Dalmatian top from Ann Taylor 2011
Black skirt from Target 2010
Red belt from Papaya 2011
Red Shoes from Target 2008
-I wore pearl earrings and a black and silver watch to accessorize.
The Disneybound Inspiration:
My roommate Kyleigh and I had quite the adventure using my computer as the camera. Here is a little outtake for your enjoyment. We thought her hair looked like dog ears.
Have a spottedly spectacular day! Yes, spottedly is the new up and coming word. :)
